Fasolasuchus - Dossier
Fasolasuchus, an aggressive Triassic carnivore designed by Riskybiscuits, has won the Community Creature Vote contest for ARK: Survival Evolved. His design includes bone-crushing jaws and thick, scaly skin adapted for deserts. His strong preference for armored prey allows him to grab and crush such creatures, leaving their remains as pseudo-territorial markers.
To tame him, armored creatures must be sacrificed, with Fasolasuchus crushing them to improve taming effectiveness. Once tamed, he can capture other creatures for battle or taming and harvest a variety of resources. Despite his strength, Fasolasuchus does not understand complex concepts like territory, making him a challenging addition to any player's collection.
Please note that these details were suggested by the contest winner and may change a lot in the actual implementation. The whole thing is then to be released with the new ARK version on Unreal Engine 5 "ARK: Survival Ascended" (ASA) in August 2023 (there will initially only be the maps The Island and just Scorched Earth).
Scientifically, the following can be summarized:
Fasolasuchus is an extinct genus of Loricata belonging to the Crurotarsi group. The single species, Fasolasuchus tenax, was probably one of the largest crurotarsi of the Triassic, with an estimated length of 8 to 10 meters, based on the size of its limbs and upper jaw.The vertebral column was stiffened by additional mechanical connectors (hyposphen-hypantrum joints), which can also be observed in other Rauisuchia and in the lizard basin dinosaurs (Saurischia).

This wasteland is replete with surprises, albeit not necessarily of the favorable kind. Out here, there exists a creature resembling Fasolasuchus, as if these proto-crocodiles could traverse sand as effortlessly as water…
These formidable beasts have the propensity to materialize suddenly, ensnaring unsuspecting prey in their cunning ambushes, or swiftly maneuvering around them, creating a vortex of sand. I cannot emphasize enough the perilous nature of this deathtrap! Furthermore, their tails possess a formidable strength, capable of stirring up sand to both confound predators and bewilder prey.
If at all possible, I strongly advise evading their spines. It is my belief that they harbor acid glands at the base of their spiny fins, as well as within their oral cavities. Their corrosive bite appears to have the ability to dissolve even the most resilient hide.
Domesticated
One of these colossal sand-swimmers would undoubtedly make for a magnificent mount, though it would require a stroke of fortune to impede the progress of a creature that effortlessly repels most sedatives. One could attempt to weaken it with explosives, seize hold of a spine, and guide it towards an immovable rock… However, only those of a somewhat audacious disposition would dare to undertake such an endeavor.
I envision that those adrenaline enthusiasts capable of taming a Fasolasuchus would earn themselves an awe-inspiring steed amidst these scorching sands. These creatures seem to have adapted to combat larger prey, thus I would caution any Faso-rider to steer clear of packs of smaller creatures that could overwhelm its defenses.
