Scorched Earth

Scorched Earth is the first paid expansion for ARK: Survival Evolved and ARK: Survival Ascended. Originally released in 2016 for PC and Xbox One, the PS4 version followed later. The remaster for ARK: Survival Ascended was released in 2024. This expansion introduces a completely new desert map with unique environmental conditions, new creatures, and numerous items. Players must face special challenges, including extreme heat, limited water resources, and dangerous weather phenomena such as sandstorms and electrical storms.

The DLC introduces 12 new creatures, including variants of Wyvern and Golem, as well as over 60 new blueprints for equipment and structures. Some creatures and items can also be transferred to the standard world. Additionally, there are new caves and ruins to explore. The harsh environmental conditions require strategic resource management, such as collecting water from cacti or special water sources. An additional paid expansion, the Frontier Adventure Pack, brings further features for players.

With the release of ARK: Survival Ascended in April 2024, Scorched Earth was re-released as an updated version. This updated version offers improved graphics, new ruins, revamped Coliseum designs, and additional caves to explore. Creatures like the Jerboa, which now appears with varying levels, and the Morellatops, which now has a water stat for better water storage, have also been adjusted. A new optional paid expansion, the Frontier Adventure Pack, enhances the player experience with additional content.

Additionally, the DLC Bob's Tall Tales has been introduced, offering new adventures and content in multiple parts. The first part, Frontier Showdown, focuses on the Scorched Earth map and adds western-inspired elements. Players can discover new creatures like the Oasisaur, a massive floating island. New structures such as a dedicated saloon, playable pianos, and steam-powered trains are also available, making travel in the desert landscape easier. This DLC expands the player experience with additional missions, structures, and cosmetic items in a western style.
